Sejarah
Dibangun pada tanggal 30 Juli 1997. Dan mulai diresmikan pada tanggal 11 Maret 1998. Tanggal itulah ditetapkan SMP Negeri 2 Kranggan lahir. Pada perkembangannya hingga saat ini telah dibuka dengan 20 rombongan belajar, sebagai salah satu perwujudan layan masyarakat yang semakin tinggi terhadap animo untuk sekolah, selain adanya ketentuan wajib belajar 9 tahun dari pemerintah.
